Someone sent you something through Databeamer, or asked you for something. You do not need an account, and nothing is installed.

Why is this protected? #
Some information is not meant for everyone: personal data, contracts, confidential files. That is why everything is locked on the sender's device and only opened again with you. Only you and the sender can read it; Databeamer's servers never saw the contents.
Security detailsWhat is this?
Transfers and Secure Mail are end-to-end encrypted with post-quantum hybrid keys (X25519 + ML-KEM-768, Ed25519 + ML-DSA-65). As a guest you open an envelope either with a passphrase (key derived with Argon2id; the server never learns the passphrase) or with a code by email (key held in escrow by a key-management service and released after the code checks out). A request is encrypted in your browser to the requester's public key; nobody else can open your submission. The per-feature details are under Open a transfer you received and Answer a request.
How to open it #
- Open the link in the email you received.
- Unlock the page (for a transfer or Secure Mail, see below).
- Do what is needed: download, read and reply, or send what was asked.
Unlocking #
For a transfer or a Secure Mail the page is locked until you prove it is you. What you see depends on what the sender chose:
- Passphrase. The sender gives you a phrase like
XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXXthrough another channel, for example by phone or in a message. Enter it and choose Unlock. Did not get one? Ask the sender. Databeamer does not have it and cannot send it to you. - Code by email. Choose Email me a code, open the 6-digit code in your inbox and enter it. Codes expire after 10 minutes; request a new one if needed.
Download files (transfer) #
The link takes you to a page called Secure transfer. After unlocking you see who sent the transfer, their message and the files under Files shared with you. Choose Download next to a file. It is opened in your browser as it downloads.
A transfer is available for a limited time, usually a few days. Step by step: Open a transfer you received.
Read and reply to a message (Secure Mail) #
Secure Mail is for a conversation: a subject, a thread of messages and attachments. After unlocking you can read the message, download attachments and reply with Send reply.
Your access as a guest ends after 30 days. The sender can also withdraw it earlier.
Send files or answers (request) #
The page shows who the request is from under Requested by, the requester's message, and what they need: a list of files, a form, or both. A request does not need unlocking.
- Upload the files asked for and answer the questions. Everything is locked in your browser for the requester before it is sent. The page says Only the requester can read it.
- Choose Submit. The page confirms with Submitted! and lists your earlier submissions if you made more than one.
Changed your mind? For a while after submitting, shown as Retractable for …, you can Retract submission. The requester then no longer has access to it and you can submit again. Step by step: Answer a request.
Is this message genuine? #
Stay alert for scams. Before you open or fill in anything, check:
- Were you expecting this? Does it come from someone you know, and does it fit what you expected?
- Do you see the familiar parts? A request shows Powered by Databeamer in the footer. The page may carry the sender's branding.
- In doubt? Contact the sender through a channel you already trust, for example by phone. Do not use the contact details in the suspicious message itself.
- Is a transfer unwanted, misleading or harmful? Use Report abuse on the page.
If it does not work #
- This transfer is no longer available. The link has expired or the sender withdrew it. Ask the sender to send it again.
- This request is no longer accepting submissions. The deadline has passed or the request has been fulfilled. Contact the requester if you still need to send something.
- You have no passphrase or code. Ask the sender for the passphrase, or choose Email me a code if the sender enabled that option.
Want your own account? #
You do not have to, but you can. With an account you can send files back securely and keep what you received in your own Drive. Choose Create account on the page, or start with Create your account. Already have one? Requests sent to you also appear on your dashboard under To do and in Exchange › Requests.
