I lost my phone
Revoke the lost device, make sure nobody can use it, and decide whether your recovery phrase needs replacing. Ten minutes, in this order.
The situation. Your phone is gone, and Databeamer was set up on it. First the reassuring part: whoever has the phone needs your PIN or your passkey to unlock Databeamer, and too many wrong attempts lock the device. Now make sure it stays that way.
What you will use. Devices and Recovery phrase under Settings › Security. See Devices and unlocking.
1. Revoke the phone from another device #
On your laptop or any other set-up device, open Settings › Security › Devices. Find the phone by its type and Last unlocked time, choose Revoke and confirm with your PIN. From now on the phone cannot unlock your account, even with the right PIN.
Only have the one device? Skip to step 4.
2. Check the audit log #
Open Settings › Audit log and filter by Account and security. Look for unlocks or device approvals you do not recognise. If you find any, contact support after finishing these steps.
3. Decide about your recovery phrase #
Was the recovery phrase stored on the phone, in its notes, photos or a password manager that was unlocked? Then treat it as exposed: under Settings › Security › Recovery phrase, choose Regenerate and store the new phrase somewhere safe. The old phrase stops working.
If the phrase was never on the phone, leave it as it is.
4. If the phone was your only device #
You can still get back in with your recovery phrase. On a new device, sign in, choose Use your recovery phrase on the Unlock Your Account screen, enter the 24 words and choose Unlock. Then revoke the lost phone as in step 1, and add a second device so this does not happen again: Set up a second device.
Without the recovery phrase and without any other device, your data cannot be recovered. Not by you, not by us. That is what makes it private. What you can still do is described in I have no device and no recovery phrase.
5. Change your password #
Your login password is separate from your keys, but if it was saved on the phone, change it: Settings › Security › Change password sends you a link.
Afterwards #
Set up Databeamer on the replacement phone with Approve from another device, and enable Passkey unlock so the new phone needs your face or fingerprint.
